why Goa won't celebrate Independence day on 15th August

Whole India celebrate Independence day on 15th of August but it is not the same for Goa. To know the reason we have to go into history in the year 1510 Vasco da Gama came to India Portuguese are the first Europeans to establish their rule in India in Goa. The ruled for more then 400 years in Goa they had suppressed Goa culture and kondan language and this continued for a long term and for many years the people were suppressed .

In the year 1946 18th June Ram Manohar Lohia started a civil disobedience movement against the Portuguese in Goa which was inspired by the civil disobedience movement of 1930 in India. This had became a spark in the and massive protests were started in Goa. Many people from Goa and youth started protest and raised funds for the protest and at last the protest over in the year 1961 on December 19th Goa got independence from Portuguese and joined India as a state.  450 years suppression had came to end on that day.
